Home - News & Media - Macbeth returns to Cawdor Castle this summer for outdoor theatre in the gardens

Category: Uncategorized

Shakespeare’s Macbeth returns to open the season on Friday 19th July and Shakespeare closes the season on Thursday 1st August.   Cawdor Castle will also be hosting a performance of The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame on Saturday 20th July, aimed at families and those who enjoy the adventures of Molly, Ratty and Badger.

Cawdor Castle has been hosting outdoor theatre in the Castle gardens for over a decade and working with acclaimed outdoor theatre production companies like The Three Inch Fools who’ll be performing their unique take on Macbeth complete with their own music and lyrics, using all sorts of different instruments, plenty of multi-rolling and many a quick costume change along the way.

Returning this year is the Quantum Theatre who will be performing The Wind in The Willows and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  All their shows have been adapted to capture the spirit and essence of the original text and create a fast pace, entertaining performance.

Graham Griffith, General Manager, Cawdor Castle comments ‘Being able to share our gardens through theatre adds another dimension to visiting Cawdor Castle and Gardens.  With three shows this summer to enjoy we can offer the Shakespeare fan and someone looking to experience outdoor theatre for the first time an enjoyable evening out.’

Tickets for all three performance are on sale now and available to buy direct on the Cawdor Castle website and a discount is available for all members of Friends of Cawdor Castle membership scheme.
